Wheatgrass - Shmeatgrass
Wheatgrass Smeatgrass
We are growing wheatgrass. We are growing wheatgrass in three different containers and in two different places - At home and at Leo and Logan’s school. We are testing how they will grow in different sun light, cling wrap on one, and wax paper on another. We have guessed which will grow faster and more fully and now all we need to do is complete the experiments. - Jacob
Our Process
We have a mix of soil, seeds, and our secret ingredient, volcanic ash called azomite.
After planting the wheatgrass in our trays, we created different environments for our seeds and watched them grow.
We found the indoor trays placed in a south facing window far out grew the trays placed at home in our garage which has a west facing window and was cold.
The sun and the warmer temperature made all the difference for the growth of the seeds. No surprise there.
What we found a little surprising was how much fuller and taller the growth of the grass covered with CELLOPHANE was. Our hope was to create a greenhouse effect. After planting, we did not water the cellophane section of the tray. Even without watering, it still outgrew the uncovered section and the section covered in wax paper. So, the greenhouse effect Worked! It required less water to grow,
Of course, after 10 days of growth, we cut and juiced the grass. Everyone was very brave to try the drink. Reviews are mixed. -Leo
