Urban Roots Tour

On Monday the 4th of February,  2019,

I took a tour of the Urban Roots Farm.

We walked from school to the farm for about 15 minutes, and when we got there, we met someone named Alyssa. Alyssa gave us a tour of the farm and said it was founded by Melissa and Adam Millsap.

Alyssa explained that there used to be a house where a patch of garden is now.

We went into a greenhouse where Alyssa showed us the germination station. they let the plants grow there. I also saw a lawn mower like tool called a tiller. It was made in Italy because small farming is more popular in Europe more than it is in America.

We saw a greenhouse on wheels. it can move so multiple crops can use it. Alyssa said it takes about four people to roll it between fields.

We saw the chickens and the goats, who were named Lewis and Clark.

if anyone who has read my other Urban Roots post knows, Sandy, my TEACHER, discovered that she can speak goat. when she spoke their language, they responded!

We suggest that if you are old enough, you can either get a job there or be a volunteer OR JOIN THEIR CSA. Here is the link to their site. —Leo
